Strata collaborates with you from conception to launch – and all the steps in between.

Identity & Branding

A clearly defined identity is the core of “who you are.” Coherent branding is how that identity touches “what you do.” An authentic identity creates a powerful and positive statement that connects the heart of an organization to the many contexts in which it exists. It generates clarity, builds relationships, and reflects the values the business aspires to.

Website Development

The process of developing or re-positioning an online presence reveals and clarifies direction that supports the mission and aligns an organization’s structure and purpose. Building an effective and strategically integrated digital footprint requires an understanding that looks at the whole system from the inside out – and the outside in.

Content Development

Identity encompasses much more than a logo – it’s part of a branding ecosystem that affects everything you do. Consistency of layout, typography and color are just part of the story. Generating touchstone content through image and copywriting is like finding your voice – to be seen and heard.

Strategic Alignment

Spark clarity by developing a values-driven mission/vision to serve as an internal compass, accelerate outcomes, and encourage cohesion between individual creativity and strategic goals. An organization that aligns their identity with mission objectives, purpose and people ultimately invests in improving more than just the bottom line.

Communications & Connection

Social and print media, online and traditional advertising, e-newsletters and mass emails need to be designed, planned, scheduled and on-message. Build internal and external relationships and connect to your target audience in a meaningful way – and be consistent across all platforms.

Training & Facilitation

Board Retreat Facilitation and Group Effectiveness Training workshops are key components to aligning an organization with its strategic objectives. By helping participants understand how groups evolve into high functioning teams, organizations build creativity, clarity and character that drives performance.

Strata’s process generates a depth of understanding that gets to the core of what your organization is passionate about; staying high enough up to get a balcony view of the whole system, yet close enough in to see the devil in the details. Approaches that only address the visual aspect of identity development overlook a more meaningful way to engage, so Strata embed ‘soft’ organizational development skills alongside ‘technical’ design expertise and ensure both are clearly tied to mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Attention to the health of the whole business serves to create an environment that closes the gap between aspiration and reality – and an opportunity for an organization to truly combine who they are with what they do.

- Lisa MacLeod -

“I believe the universal drivers for all organizations are purpose and profit, whether fiscal or humanitarian. So, any change initiative – such as identity/web-based development, strategic planning or process improvement – must be tied to the strategic objectives, otherwise why invest valuable time and resources?
When an organization starts the ball rolling on a design project, they bring their good and bad selves to the process. So by developing something tangible, like a branding initiative or a website, clients inevitably give a snapshot of how their wider organization operates. Often, this exposes disconnection that exists within a business, yet the idea of viewing the design process as a widow into the way their company works is usually furthest from the client’s mind.
However, when the delivery of Organizational Development concepts, language and philosophy are wrapped around something concrete, such as branding & identity or web development, the relevance and benefit of this additional opportunity is easier to understand.
This added value is then demonstrated by the development of consistent messaging, effective processes and work groups, less internal friction,  and better outcomes – all essentially resulting in motivated staff, expanded capacity, increased impact and happy clients/customers.
Strata shows how something as deceptively simple as identity design or building a digital platform can in turn illuminate every part of the system. This kind of attention to the health of the whole business serves

to create an environment that closes the gap between aspiration and reality – and an opportunity for an organization to truly align who they are with what they do.
As the ideas of corporate accountability and environmental sustainability become more important, the rise of the B-Corp concept is at the vanguard of a cultural shift in how we work together. Consumers, donors, and constituents are demanding organizations behave more responsibly, and are making different choices about how and where to use their money or invest their time.
With awareness of this emerging market, I believe approaching design through Strata’s process is an opportunity for organizations to position and define themselves in this new environment. To align their identity with their vision, mission, and strategic objectives, and ultimately invest in more than just improving the bottom line.”
